About
Fifty notes on working with AI tools, and on the privacy and security questions that come with them.
How they are written
Mechanism before products. Tool names age badly and mechanisms do not. A reader who understands why a model fabricates can evaluate any product; a reader with a list of ten tools has a list that expires.
Failure modes are stated. Every note says where the thing does not work. Guidance that describes only the successful case is marketing.
Uncertainty is stated as uncertainty. Where the honest answer is that nobody knows — when quantum computers will threaten current cryptography, what a detector's real false positive rate is — the note says so rather than inventing a figure.
Obsolete advice is named. A great deal of widely repeated security and productivity guidance is out of date. Where a note contradicts what you have read elsewhere, it says why.
Editorial position
No affiliate links, no sponsored content, no vendor material, no ranked product lists.
Nothing here assists unauthorised access to accounts, devices or services, the tracking of people against their wishes, or copyright infringement.
Nothing here makes claims about whether particular companies are legitimate or fraudulent.
A note on currency
This subject moves faster than any other covered on a site like this, and the author's knowledge has a cutoff. Specific product capabilities, prices and availability will be out of date. The mechanisms, the failure modes and the evaluation methods will not.
Where a note describes something time-sensitive, it says so.
About this domain
This address previously hosted an unrelated site: a general technology blog publishing between 2025 and 2026.
None of that content is here. Some of it should not have been anywhere. It included around twenty pages making claims about whether named real businesses were fraudulent, written to a template without investigation, and several guides to sites distributing copyrighted material. Those pages, and everything else from the previous site, have been retired rather than redirected, so old links return a clear "gone" response.
If you arrived looking for the previous site, or for the mobile tax calculator that was hosted on a subdomain here, neither is available and neither is returning.
